About Brian Rutherford, PIA MidAmerica Regulatory Manager for Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma
Brian Rutherford has over thirty years of experience in OSHA compliance and risk management for printing and publishing, manufacturing and construction companies. He has worked exclusively in the printing industry for twenty years as the Regulatory Manager for PIA MidAmerica, the Print Media Association and Printing Industry Association of the South, where he functions as the safety director for over thirty printing companies. In this capacity, he also developed PrintGuard®, the first OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Classes for General Industry that are specific to the graphic communications sector. He has personally developed and implemented employee safety and health programs, turned around failed programs, and participated in over 300 OSHA inspections at printing companies.
Mr. Rutherford retired as a Major after 25 years of service in the Air Force Reserve. His “second career” positions included Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Ground Safety Technician and Aircraft Structural Repair Specialist. Brian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management from the University of Central Missouri.
