The Bindery Clerk is responsible for performing finishing and binding operations on printed materials in a fast-paced print shop. This role ensures that finished products meet quality standards and deadlines, supporting the overall production workflow. Duties include operating bindery equipment, assembling printed materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, laminators, collators, staplers, and hole punches to produce high-quality finished products.
  • Perform hand-finishing tasks, including folding, cutting, and assembling printed materials.
  • Manage inventory of bindery supplies, notifying the manager when restocking is needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and other production areas, to clarify order requirements and resolve issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and overall shop operations.
  • Verify accuracy of print jobs by checking specifications against order tickets/lines.
  • Pack and prepare completed orders for shipment or delivery.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot bindery equipment, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized area.

 Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a print shop or bindery setting is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Familiarity with reading spreadsheets and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and material use.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with account managers on projects.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Quickly adjusts to changing priorities and customer demands.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in finished products.
  • A proactive mindset and self-starter attitude with minimal need for supervision.
  • Capable of standing, bending, and lifting items up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.

This position is Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Specified paid holidays.
