Lead Pressman
The Press Operator will be responsible for the safe operation of the assigned printing press in the daily functions of press operation and press room procedures. This position reports directly to the press room shift supervisor.
What you’ll do as a Press Operator:
- Follows instructions from job ticket and sets up and directs set up of press according to job specifications.
- Follows instructions from job ticket and sets up and directs set up of press according to job specifications.
- Make ready of jobs by running samples to adjust print quality, registration and color settings according to standards.
- Checks final inspection of sheet prior to approval from client and or Press supervisor. Makes sure that all set standards are followed and correct on sheet and that press sheet matches supplied contract proof.
- Maintains consistency of quality through press run by checking sheet pulls for fit, color match and overall quality.
- Follows equipment maintenance program by scheduling preventative maintenance with press room supervisor.
- Monitors all process controls required on press re: Chemistry, Mechanical, Printing standards and cleanliness.
- Responsible for logging time into company MIS system and maintaining required production standards on each job.
- Responsible for directing second press helper on keeping paper supplied and ink fountains and necessary items for production in line.
- Keeps Press Supervisor informed of press check times and scheduling of press runs.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures with Press Supervisor. Engages in training for safety and process control.
- Maintains awareness of SDS and proper handling of chemical products.
- Operates or assists on other pressroom equipment as needed when workload permits.
- Achieves a high level of employee efficiency and morale
- Participates in weekly meetings and engages in ideas on improving efficiency.
- Engages in ongoing training of new technology and requirements for competitive awareness.
- Responsible for keeping area clean and professional including condition of equipment.
- Performs other tasks as requested.
- We’re looking for a Press Operator with:
- Ability to read and apply engineering requirements on a per job basis.
- Full understanding of inks, chemistry and substrates used when operating a lithographic press.
- Carry out instructions and perform at a high level of quality in the operation of the printed product.
- Display of interpersonal skills with fellow employees and customers. Reliability through attendance, punctuality and attention to detail.
