We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Litho Printing Prepress Operator to join our print production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing digital files for lithographic printing, ensuring high-quality output and accurate file handling. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between client-supplied artwork and final print production. Pay negotiable pending on previous experience and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepress File Preparation:

Receive and review client artwork, ensuring all files meet the technical specifications for litho printing.

  • File Manipulation:

Use industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, PitStop Pro, Prinergy, Apogee, or similar) to adjust layouts, correct colors, trap artwork, and ensure proper imposition.

  • Proofing:

Generate soft and hard copy proofs for internal review and client approval, ensuring accuracy and quality.

  • Platemaking:

Output printing plates using CTP (Computer-to-Plate) technology, ensuring correct registration and quality standards are met.

  • Quality Control:

Conduct preflight checks, manage resolution, color accuracy, fonts, bleeds, and other critical elements before output.

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

Maintain prepress equipment and software, troubleshoot issues related to files, RIPs, or CTP systems.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

Preferably 1-2 years or more in a prepress or litho printing environment, but not required.

  • Technical Skills:

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat),  and RIP/CTP workflows.

  • Knowledge:

Strong understanding of lithographic printing processes, color management, trapping, imposition, and file formats (PDF/X standards).

  • Attention to Detail:

High level of accuracy and ability to identify and correct file issues proactively.

  • Time Management:

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated prepress workflows
  • Basic understanding of bindery and finishing requirements
