The Missouri State Senate has passed a bill that will require sales tax on Missouri goods purchased online, commonly referred to as “Wayfair tax.” A similar bill, House Bill 554, passed in the Missouri House. It is expected that a combination of the two bills will ultimately pass in the General Assembly. Important reminders:
  • For most states, sales tax nexus laws apply when you exceed the revenue or transaction limitation during the prior or current calendar year.
  • In most cases, even exempt sales count towards the threshold requirements.
