Dave Everett named EHS Professional of the Year

PIA MidAmerica has named Dave Everett of Lifetouch Publishing as the 2012 recipient of the Gary R. Reniker Environmental Health and Safety Professional of the Year Award. The announcement was made at the Lifetouch Publishing facility in Kansas City, Missouri before a group of Lifetouch coworkers on March 9, 2012.

“Dave Everett is a veteran of the printing industry who has given back more than he has taken,” said Brian Rutherford, Vice President of Marketing with Safety Solutions on Site, and Environmental Health and Safety Consultant to PIA MidAmerica.

“In his role as Safety Specialist, Dave exemplifies what Gary Reniker stood for — technical precision, level-headed leadership, and most importantly, compassion for workers and a real desire to keep people safe.   His contribution to safety goes well beyond just Lifetouch.”

Everett, a Graphic Arts/Digital Printing Manager, has worked at Lifetouch for 25 years and has been an activist and innovator in his role as Safety Specialist since 2006.  His work with program development, fostering a positive safety culture in the workplace, and regulatory compliance has had an impact not only at the Kansas City plant, but also at other Lifetouch facilities across the country.

He has contributed to safety in the Kansas City area and the greater printing industry by working hand in hand with local and state regulators, contributing time and source material to PIA MidAmerica safety efforts, and hosted a 10-hour PrintGuard® Safety class as well.

In 2005 the Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica announced the creation of the Gary R. Reniker EHS  Professional of the Year Award, which will is given annually to an individual in the printing industry who demonstrates outstanding leadership and excellence in promoting environmental health and safety in the Kansas City area.

The award was named after Gary R. Reniker, national safety director with INX International Ink Co. who passed away in 2006. Demonstrating their corporate commitment to worker safety and in keeping Gary’s vision alive, INX continues to sponsor the award-winning PrintGuard® program to this day.

Dave Everett is a 1972 graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Central Missouri State University. He lives in Gladstone, Missouri, is married, and has a son who also works at Lifetouch. In his spare time he enjoys cooking and enjoying their cabin in Wilderness.
